Waxing Poetic: Body Scrubs
On a recent trip to Target I was amused to see the Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Hand & Body Scrub proudly proclaimed on its label that it contained “Gluten-Free Vitamin E.”  Frankly, if you are eating your body scrub ingesting gluten is probably pretty low on the worry scale!

This experience did get me thinking about the importance of twice weekly sugar scrubs following your waxing appointment.  This is especially true for Brazilian wax, leg wax, arm wax or back wax.  The granular scrub helps to exfoliate the skin and prevent development of ingrown hairs– it makes your skin feel terrific!

No need to invest $10-15 in commercially created scrubs when you have all the ingredients around the house (except, perhaps essential oils that are readily available at stores like Whole Foods) to make an effective and economical sugar scrub.  The internet is full of many terrific options including one of my favorites:

Lemon Honey Rosemary Scrub

Ingredients
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup olive oil
2 Tablespoons honey
2 tsp dried rosemary
15 drops lemon essential
15 drops lavender essential

Directions

Mix sugar, dried rosemary, olive oil, and honey together.
Add essential oils and stir to combine. Store in airtight container for up to 1 month.
So there you go, scrub away and save a few dollars while you are at it. And don’t worry, this recipe is also completly gluten free!
